Exactly 12 months ago, on the last day of December 2007, I made a new year resolution to get fit… …and I stuck with it! Is has been a year now and I have consistently stayed within my workout routine and diet plan. Thirty pounds of fat has been replaced by about 20 pounds of muscle, and my waste has shriveled from 38” to a hot and sexy 34” and sometimes 33” on a good day!

With 2009 looming and new goals in mind, I needed to figure out a way to mix things up a little and continue my fitness transformation. Here are some of the ideas I have come up with that may just work for you as well.

Work On Fitness Outside Of The Gym
I have always equated fitness and toning with “going” somewhere like a gym, fitness center or sports field. I figured that working out had it’s place in my life and that is where it would remain. This philosophy has served me well, but I just don’t have any more time to spend at the health club. So how can I increase my workout time without actually using up any real hours on the clock?

Now – green tea extract is thought to be somewhat helpful in the fight against weight loss, but there’s no way these pills are worth this much. 

In fact, I found a bottle of pills with the EXACT same ingredients, but it was just being marketed as green tea extract and not as a miracle weight loss pill. 

How much was this one?  A whopping $6.99. 

The company selling the overpriced version is simply taking advantage of people’s vunerability and pushing their product with hyped-up marketing.  And unfortunately, many people fall for it.

And trust me, this pill alone will never give you a big jump in your weight loss plans.  It might help a touch, but it definately isn’t a miracle pill.

The best diet pills or best weight loss supplements don’t only have one ingredient.  Look for a product that uses a good number of different ingredients or herbs.  This gives your body a variety of tools that it can make use of to help itself lose weight.

Now, I don’t want to give the idea that no pill is worth $70.  Truthfully, there are some great diet pills that are in this price range.  {However,But} I guarantee you that the best products don’t just have one ingredient in them.

7.  Exercise.

What about that side dish?  Take a look.  This part of the meal is often a minefield of bad food choices including French Fries, macaroni and cheese and potato salad.  Replace these items with healthy alternatives such as steamed vegetables, cottage cheese, or salad (minus dressing.)

Pumping iron increases lean muscle mass, which speeds up your metabolism.  It’s a decent calorie burner, but will help you burn calories even when not exercising.  Aerobic exercise is the best for calorie and fat burning.  Many experts say to enjoy aerobic activity for 30 minutes a day 3-5 days a week.  Hog wash!.  Make it seven days a week, which means an activity you can sustain day after day for the rest of your life.

Weight loss plateaus can give even the most positive dieter something to complain about. You’re following your plan and exercising and then – all of a sudden – nothing works anymore! Try as hard as you might, you can’t lose any more weight. It feels like your body is revolting against you.

Before you throw in the towel and drown your sorrows in fudge cake, try the following tips. The will get your diet back on the right track and those numbers on the scale going down again.

Adopt the right mindset.
The first thing to do when you hit a plateau is to recognize that it’s all part of the process. When you are losing weight, plateaus are bound to happen. The answer to both of those rhetoricals is a resounding NO–maybe even HELL NO!

Even if you have already tried half of them (at least it FEELS that way), you are still faced with the opportunity to fail another 15 million times. And that’s good; but a bit extreme.

To become a true “Olympic Dieter”, five or more failures will be enough to put you in the “semi-finals” at least. Of course, the longer you have been trying and the more times you have failed, the more qualified you’ve become.

You can’t have missed Slim Fast, Nutrisystem, and Jenny Craig. They do the most advertising; and that usually means they are the most successful and make the most money.

True “Olympic Dieters” however, measure success in weight, not dollars. You decide.

At this point in an “Olympic Dieter’s” training, the question arises: “And what happens if I eat less… exercise more…and DON’Tdrink the miracle tea?”

See how easy it is to get to the semi-finals? But, numerous failures were required to learn this most important lesson.

The Holy Grail for “Olympic Dieters” will be that one page among the twenty-nine and a half million “possibles” that enables us to get to the platform and receive our gold medal by eating…more or less, and exercising…more or less.
