During the holidays keeping a positive attitude about weight loss can be difficult. The holidays can offer many temptations, but with the right attitude you can stay on track with your weight loss goals. Maintaining your weight loss during the holiday is possible and here are a few ways that have worked for me.
Here are the five easy ways to do it:
1. Less Holiday Stress: Stress can cause hormones in your body, such as cortisol to be released. An elevated cortisol level can cause your appetite to increase which will lead you to eat more.
Try this: Don’t be so hard on yourself. Remember to put yourself first sometimes. Don’t overcommit yourself. Set priorities. Have some YOU time. Sometimes we forget to take time for ourselves, so treat yourself to some time alone or time doing something you enjoy.
2. The right surroundings: Not everyone is trying focus on maintaining weight loss during the holiday season. You can increase your chances of staying on track with your weight loss by surrounding yourself with people who are committed to a healthy lifestyle.
Try this: Find other people who have the same goals as you in local fitness classes and programs. This will not only get you through the holidays but also keep you on track going into the new year.
3. Remember to eat: There are so many things to do during the holidays that sometimes we lose track of time. If you’re hungry you will be less focused on your weight loss goals.
Try this: Remember the most important meal of the day, make sure you’re eating a healthy energy packed breakfast. Also if you know you’ll be busy during the day carry a healthy snack with you. This will help keep you full until you can eat a healthy meal.
4. Remember to keep it movin’: If you want to maintain your weight loss you’ll need to continue to exercise regularly.
Try this: When time is limited do quick exercises that only take a few minutes. Planning these times into your day is what will make this work. Make exercising a priority for you and if possible recruit a friend to join you.
5. Give yourself a treat: We all have our holiday favorites and you shouldn’t need to avoid them. The secret is to plan for these treats and eat them in moderation.
Try this: Instead of taking a whole piece of your favorite food, take a smaller portion and enjoy it without worry or guilt.
By following these five tips you can maintain your fat loss during the holidays.
