The fastest way to lose weight is through diet and exercise, period. That means taking in fewer calories than you burn. You don’t have to starve yourself to lose weight. In fact that could actually cause you to gain more weight because your body will enter what is called “starvation mode”. This is not a good situation and can do some real damage to you. This is like the story of the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady, and we all know who wins that race. In the long run a smart every day diet combined with good exercise is the quickest way to lose weight. The coolest thing is that you don’t have to worry about ever regaining the weight again.
Diet doesn’t mean a diet, a short term switch of normal eating habits. Diet means the everyday, day after day, for all the days of your life way that you eat. A good diet includes foods from every one of the food groups, taken in moderation and the right amounts. If your diet is healthy and well balanced you can quickly and easily shift the amount of calories you take in every day to shed a couple of pounds.
Sounds like a big change, huh? That might not be the case. You may already eat most of the foods needed for a well balanced diet, just not in the right amounts. Cutting down the amount you consume, for most heavyset people, can take you from eating poorly to a beneficial change. If your diet has a good balance to it you can at times treat yourself to a sinful indulgence, but only in small quantities of course. The three bad white foods – white bread, white rice, and sugar – can easily be replaced in your diet. Eating whole grain bread instead of white bread, brown rice instead of white rice, and fruits instead of sugary foods are healthy changes that don’t require eating much less.
The key to maintaining a healthy diet is planning. When you fail to plan you miss meals, that leads to binge eating. When you don’t follow through with your meal plans you will eventually end up at fast food place and end up eating less than desirable food. Plan meals in advance, including for occasions like parties and social gatherings. It only takes a few questions to find out what’s on the menu and plan the days other meals accordingly to not break the bank for calories. Part of the plan is understanding that sometimes the plan will fail. Don’t let a failure discourage you. Just because you splurged and ate that piece of cheese cake doesn’t mean you’ve totally failed your diet. Always remember that this is something your going to be doing for the rest of your life not just a couple of days.
As for exercise do thirty minutes of aerobic exercise seven days a week. This needs to be your goal. And don’t get all bent out of shape if you miss a day or 2. It’s a good idea to add any extra activities you can to your daily routine. You don’t need to get that parking spot right by the door when you go shopping. You could even take the stairs in lieu of riding the elevator.
A healthy diet eaten every day along with strenuous quality exercise is the best and fastest weight loss plan there is.
